Synopsis

The Addams Family is a musical comedy that follows the delightfully spooky Addams Family as their world turns upside down when Wednesday falls in love with a perfectly "normal" boy. For the first time, she confides in Gomez and asks him to keep her secret from Morticia, throwing the family into comic turmoil as they prepare to host a dinner for Wednesday's boyfriend and his unsuspecting parents. Over the course of one chaotic night, the Addams' eccentric traditions clash with the Beinekes' normalcy, revealing hidden truths, testing relationships, and unforgettable chaos.

Character Breakdown

GOMEZ ADDAMS

Tenor/Baritone, Vocal Range: Bb2 - G4, A suave man who adores his wife and children and takes immense pride in being an Addams. Gomez finds himself trapped between his daughter and his wife, being forced to hide Wednesday’s big secret from Morticia. He has great comedic timing and is a strong dancer

MORTICIA ADDAMS

Mezzo/Alto, Vocal Range: G3 - Bb5, The beautiful and mysterious head of the Addams family who believes strongly in family tradition. Morticia is unnerved thinking that Gomez is hiding something from her and that her relationship with her daughter isn’t what it used to be. She is confident with a side of dry wit. She is a strong mover.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS

Pop Soprano/Mezzo, Vocal Range; A3 - E5, Gothic big sister Wednesday has her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility. She falls in love with a “normal” boy and is trying to figure out how to introduce him and his parents to her unique family. Wednesday showcases compassion, a bit of stubbornness and strong will. She has a strong belt.

PUGSLEY ADDAMS

Alto/High Tenor, Vocal Range: A3 – F5, The youngest of the Addams Family, Pugsley is a funny, inventive, and sometimes annoying little brother who loves to be tortured by his big sister. Aware that family dynamics are changing around him, he wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister so he takes matters into his own hands. Pugsley is charming and funny. Can be any gender.

UNCLE FESTER

Tenor/Baritone, Vocal Range: C3 – G4 (optional C5), Serving as the narrator of the show, Uncle Fester is lovable, childish, enthusiastic and highly incorrigible. Fester has great comedic timing and a tenor voice. Ukulele or other instrumental skills a plus! Can be any gender.

GRANDMA

Alto/Contra, Vocal Range: G4 – F5, Fun, quirky and feisty, Grandma always has a trick up her sleeve and is often cooking up schemes. Grandma is wise, wacky and sometimes a bit crass. She has great comedic timing and versatile character physicality; definitely not a typical sweet grandmotherly figure.

LURCH

Bass, Vocal Range: Eb2 – E4, A man of few words, Lurch is the Addams Family butler. His unmistakable commanding presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. Must have great non-verbal story-telling abilities (think: facial expressions and sound). When we finally do hear him sing, Lurch may surprise us with a rich bass voice. Can be any gender.

LUCAS BEINEKE

Pop Tenor/Baritone, Vocal Range: C3 – C5, Lucas has fallen head over heels in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. He is optimistic and hopeful, yet struggles to find the balance between his ‘normal’ family and the macabre Addams. Strong singer.

MAL BEINEKE

Tenor/High Baritone, Vocal Range: C3 – A4, The uptight and father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife Alice. Once a faithful follower of a grungy, dark band, he has long submerged that side of himself to become a stereotypical businessman, obsessed with his family’s future and impressing others. He finds the Addams to be too bizarre for his liking and cannot fathom being related to them.

ALICE BEINEKE

Soprano/Mezzo, Vocal Range: Ab3 – G#5, Alice is a lovely housewife who is strongly devoted to her family. Always charming and cheerful, Alice’s only flaw seems to be a quirky tendency to speak in rhymes. That is, until she accidentally drinks a potion at dinner with the Addams and learns to unleash her wild side. She is a strong comedic actress with a strong belt.

THE  ADDAMS ANCESTORS

All Vocal Ranges, All Genders, The Addams Ancestors now live on ‘the other side’, but are summoned once a year to come celebrate with the family. The Ancestors will consist of historical theater characters, which leaves room for creative character development.

*The group will include featured dancers and opportunities for solos.
